Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug with a Kurdish design, woven in a tribal style. This stunning piece features a navy background that beautifully complements the ivory border. Crafted using high-quality materials, the rug is made of wool on a cotton foundation, ensuring both comfort and durability.

Measuring 5'1" x 6'9", this rug showcases the artistry of ethnic Turkmen weavers, particularly those from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in its creation is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain and the resulting longer staple oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving.

The wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning into carpet yarn. Woven on traditional floor looms within the weavers' own homes, this rug incorporates an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and is double wefted, resulting in a densely woven and exceptionally durable carpet.

To maintain its authenticity and connection to the centuries-old craft, this rug utilizes all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating blue color of the rug is achieved through the use of natural indigo dye, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. This dye, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, has a rich history that predates thousands of years, and its vibrant blue hues have been cherished by various cultures worldwide.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug boasts an impressive total of 390,496 individually hand-tied knots. This meticulous attention to detail is a testament to the skill and dedication of the weavers, ensuring a true work of art that will enrich any space it graces.

Immerse yourself in the tradition and beauty of this Afghani rug, where age-old techniques and natural materials converge to create a masterpiece that transcends time.
