This Pakistani rug features a traditional Sultanabad design, known for its origins in the city of Arak. Antique Sultanabad rugs emerged in the early 1800s as a response to Western demand for Persian carpets. This particular rug showcases a salmon-colored background and an ivory border, with the main color being orange. Crafted using a wool-on-cotton technique, this new rug offers a blend of durability and comfort.

With a size of 10'0" x 14'2", this rug is suitable for larger spaces, adding warmth and style to any room. Its design draws inspiration from the Heriz and Serapi styles, featuring curve-linear lines and a casual, tribal feel. The warm color palette resembles the classic Sarouk Farahan Persian carpets. Sultanabad rugs have become highly desirable in the modern market, with their reinvention of traditional designs and adaptability to Western tastes.

Imported from Pakistan, this rug is a testament to the skill of ethnic Turkmen weavers, particularly from the Esari subtribe. The wool used in its production comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. This region's mountainous terrain produces longer staple, oilier high-quality wool, which is then hand-carded and hand-spun in Herat. The rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, showcasing the cottage industry's craftsmanship.

Each individual knot on this rug contributes to its durability, with a knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 104. Our calculations estimate that this rug contains a total of 2,105,815 hand-tied knots, attesting to the attention and meticulousness invested in its creation.

Sourcing from the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi, where skilled weavers are renowned for their higher knot count weaving, this rug features hand-spun, single-ply pern knot yarn. Its high-quality construction ensures longevity.

This rug combines the timeless beauty of classic Persian designs with the versatility to suit various interior aesthetics. Whether your space calls for a light and airy neutral color palette or a richly colored centerpiece, this rug offers the opportunity to unite the old with the new. From its diverse color options to its durable craftsmanship, this Pakistani Sultanabad rug makes a statement that echoes the traditions and reinventions of the carpet industry.
