Coming from the talented ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari Subtribe, the wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, the weavers create this masterpiece with an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures the utmost durability and strength. Furthermore, centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs are employed, giving this rug its mesmerizing colors.

This rug features a vibrant blue hue, derived from natural indigo dye, obtained from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo dye has a rich history dating back thousands of years and has been widely used in various cultures around the world to produce vivid blues.

Additionally, the red color in this rug comes from natural madder root dyes. Madder root, scientifically known as Rubia tinctorum, is cultivated for its dyeing properties and has been used for centuries to create warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades.

Measuring at 9'11" x 13'10", this rug boasts a knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 80, ensuring an intricately detailed and beautifully crafted piece.
