Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring the timeless Shahsevan Khorjin design. This tribal-style rug showcases a rust background adorned with a teal border, creating a stunning and versatile piece for any space. Crafted with care, this rug is made of wool on a cotton foundation, providing a luxurious texture and durability.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is woven by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain produces high-quality wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then hand carted and spun into carpet yarn in the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, these weavers employ an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type technique. The cotton warp and weft combined with an all-wool pile create a double wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving, resulting in a highly durable handwoven carpet.

This Afghani rug features centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, providing a mesmerizing array of colors. The vibrant red color in this particular rug is derived from natural madder root dyes, which have been used for centuries in various cultures around the world. Madder root dyes offer a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and character to this exceptional piece.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug boasts an impressive 1495377 individually hand-tied knots in total, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship and attention to detail invested in its creation.

Whether you are a collector or simply seeking a statement piece for your home, this Afghani rug is sure to captivate with its rich history and exquisite design. Transform your space with the beauty and elegance of this tribal masterpiece.
