Introducing the exquisite Afghani Karaja Tribal Rug, a true gem in our collection. This rug originates from Afghanistan, specifically renowned for its craftsmanship in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for producing high-quality wool. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in this region, benefiting from the mountainous terrain that naturally yields longer staple, oily wool - perfect for carpet weaving.

Crafted by skilled weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe, this rug showcases the rich traditions of the region. The design features a tribal-style Karaja pattern, with an elegant ivory background and a distinct blue border. The combination of these colors adds depth and character to the rug.

This handwoven masterpiece is made using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, resulting in a durable and long-lasting rug. The pile is made from 100% wool, while the warp and weft are composed of cotton. The use of double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving techniques ensures the utmost resilience and longevity.

One of the remarkable aspects of this rug is its use of all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating blue hue in the design is derived from natural indigo dye, which has been utilized for thousands of years across various cultures to achieve vibrant shades of blue. These age-old dyeing techniques contribute to the rug's timeless appeal.

With a size of 4'1" x 6'2", this new rug showcases precision and attention to detail, boasting a knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 104. Based on this KPSI value, we have calculated that this rug features a total of 374,296 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the weaver's skill and dedication.

The Afghani Karaja Tribal Rug is a stunning piece that captures the essence of Afghan craftsmanship and tradition. Its intricate design, excellent quality, and historical significance make it a remarkable addition to any rug enthusiast's collection.
