Introducing our exquisite rug, originating from Afghanistan, specifically from the Afghani region. This rug features the traditional Harshang design, encompassing a tribal style that adds a unique cultural touch to any space. Its background showcases a captivating shade of grey, beautifully contrasted by a vibrant red border.

Crafted with utmost care, this rug has been meticulously hand-woven by skilled Turkmen weavers, mainly hailing from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in its creation is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. Thanks to the region's mountainous terrain, the wool possesses longer staple fibers, offering superior quality for carpet weaving.

To ensure the highest level of durability and authenticity, the rug's wool is hand-spun into carpet yarn after being brought to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often found in the weavers' own homes, providing a cottage industry ambiance.

Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, the weavers create a stunning pattern on a cotton warp and weft, while the pile consists of 100% wool. Moreover, to guarantee exceptional quality, the rug incorporates a double wefted construction with a heavily packed depressed warp.

As pioneers of sustainable craftsmanship, this rug boasts centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating red color is achieved through the use of madder root dyes. These natural dyes, derived from the roots of the madder plant (Rubia tinctorum), have been cultivated for centuries worldwide. With their incredible range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, the madder root dyes have become a timeless choice in various cultures.

Measuring at 4'1" x 6'4", this rug showcases a remarkable knot density of 104 knots per square inch, resulting in a total of 384,408 individually hand-tied knots. Its fine craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage make it a truly exceptional addition to any room.
