Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, this captivating masterpiece showcases intricate Ottoman design elements combined with a transitional style. The background of this rug features a stunning ivory hue, perfectly complemented by a rust-colored border. Crafted using the finest materials, this rug boasts a wool pile on a sturdy cotton foundation, ensuring both comfort and longevity.

Originating from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeast, this rug is a labor of love courtesy of skilled Turkmen weavers. These weavers primarily belong to the Esari Subtribe, renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship. The wool used in this rug is sourced from Ghazni sheep, benefiting from the region's mountainous terrain that yields longer staple and higher quality wool, ideal for carpet weaving.

The journey of this rug begins as the raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and spinning into carpet yarn. The weaving itself takes place on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, creating a cottage industry-style production. Using asymmetrical "Persian" knotting techniques, the weavers intertwine cotton warp and weft with the alluring wool pile.

Embracing centuries-old traditions, this rug features all-natural dye stuffs, resulting in enchanting and enduring colors. Many of these rugs are woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, with each knot meticulously comprising 2-ply yarn. Our particular rug boasts a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 80, translating into a total of 378,876 individually hand-tied knots—a testament to the impeccable craftsmanship behind its creation.

Experience the allure of this Afghani rug, an embodiment of artistry and enduring heritage. Add an air of elegance to any space with this timeless masterpiece.
