Introducing our exquisite new rug, originating from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the south-eastern region. This particular rug showcases the captivating design of Oushak, a style known for its tribal aesthetic. The background of the rug features a delightful ivory hue, complemented by a rust-colored border, creating a visually appealing contrast.

Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made from high-quality wool sourced from the local sheep of the Ghazni Province. These sheep thrive in the mountainous terrain, yielding longer staple, oily wool that is ideal for weaving carpets.

The wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and spinning into carpet yarn. The weaving itself takes place in the weavers' homes, emphasizing a cottage industry approach and ensuring the authenticity and traditional nature of the rug.

Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique, the rug is meticulously woven on traditional floor looms, giving it a distinct durability and charm. The foundation of the rug consists of a cotton warp and weft, with the lush pile made entirely of wool.

Embracing centuries-old traditions, this rug is dyed using all-natural materials, resulting in an enchanting array of colors. These dyes originate from the rich heritage of the region.

Most of the rugs of this style are woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, employing a two-ply yarn per knot technique, further enhancing their durability.

Our specific rug boasts a noteworthy 80 knots per square inch, showcasing the dedication and precision of the weavers. In fact, our calculations based on the knots per square inch indicate that this marvelous piece has a staggering total of 1,635,254 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the charm and beauty of this Afghani Oushak tribal rug, a true testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region.
