Introducing an exquisite new rug from Afghanistan, this stunning piece showcases the traditional Tabriz design. With its background in ivory and border in rust, the rug exudes a timeless charm.

Craftsmanship plays a vital role in the creation of this masterpiece. Ethnic Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe, utilize all-natural, centuries-old dye stuffs to achieve the intricate and vibrant colors featured in this rug. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple oily high-quality wool ideal for carpet weaving.

The initial wool is gathered and then transported to the Western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of being hand carted and handspun into carpet yarn. Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug is a part of the cottage industry type production.

With an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, the rug showcases superior craftsmanship. The double-wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures the utmost durability, making it one of the most resilient handwoven carpets available today.

This rug hails mostly from the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi, where skilled weavers are renowned for their higher knot count weaving. The yarn used is handspun single-ply pern knot yarn. With a remarkable knots per square inch of 104, our calculations estimate that this rug features a staggering 2,645,883 individually hand-tied knots in total, a testament to the intricate detail and skill employed in its creation.

Measuring 12'0" x 14'10", this impressive rug is a true work of art, suitable for any space in need of a touch of elegance and cultural heritage.
