Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug with its captivating design inspired by the traditional ikat style. This incredible piece showcases the remarkable craftsmanship of Ethnic Turkmen Weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe.

Originating from South East Afghanistan, the wool used in this rug hails from the Ghazni Province. With its mountainous terrain, this region produces longer staple, high-quality wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and spinning into carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms, skilled artisans create this rug in their own homes or small cottage industries. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, resulting in a robust and durable masterpiece. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the pile is crafted from luxurious wool.

Adding to the allure of this rug is its timeless appeal, owing to the use of centuries-old, all-natural dye substances. Each color is carefully achieved through methods passed down through generations, creating a truly authentic and vibrant work of art.

Measuring at 8'3" x 9'6", this rug features a soothing beige background and a striking rust border that beautifully frames the design. With a knots per square inch count of 104, our calculations show that this rug boasts an impressive total of 1,165,008 individually hand-tied knots.

Indulge in the rich history and exceptional artistry of this Afghani rug, meticulously crafted by skilled weavers and inspired by the ikat tradition. Immerse yourself in the allure of its transitional style, making it an ideal addition to any well-appointed space.
