Introducing our exquisite Afghani Mamluk tribal rug with a stunning blue background and a vibrant green border. This new rug showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this masterpiece is sourced from sheep in the mountainous terrain of the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan. This region's unique environment produces longer staple, oily, and high-quality wool, perfect for carpet weaving.

To ensure the highest quality, the raw Ghazni wool is brought to the western side of Afghanistan near Herat, where it is meticulously hand carded and spun into carpet yarn. These yarns are then woven on traditional floor looms, right in the weavers' own homes, as part of a cottage industry-type production. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot, which adds to the rug's authentic charm.

Our Afghani Mamluk rug boasts a durable construction, thanks to the double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving. This method results in one of the most resilient handwoven carpets available today. Adding to the rug's allure are the centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs used to achieve the blue color. The captivating blue hues come from the leaves of the indigo plant, also known as true indigo or indigofera tinctoria. With a history dating back thousands of years, the use of natural indigo dyes has been prevalent in various cultures worldwide.

In terms of size, this Afghani Mamluk tribal rug measures 6'0" x 9'2", offering a perfect balance between elegance and practicality. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, we have meticulously hand-tied a staggering 1,277,426 knots in this exceptional rug. Each knot showcases the skill and artistry of the weavers, giving this piece a level of craftsmanship that stands out.

If you are searching for a rug that exudes cultural heritage, impeccable craftsmanship, and timeless beauty, our Afghani Mamluk tribal rug is the perfect choice. Its blues and greens will transform any space into a captivating oasis of style. Bring home this remarkable piece and immerse yourself in the rich history and artistry it represents.
