Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this intricately designed piece showcases the craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. Made with care and precision, this rug is constructed with wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool, perfect for carpet weaving.

Raw Ghazni wool is carefully transported to the western side of Afghanistan, particularly Herat, where it undergoes the traditional process of hand carding and hand spinning. These painstaking steps ensure that the wool is transformed into carpet yarn of exceptional quality. The rug is woven on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, contributing to a cottage industry type production.

Employing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug showcases the expertise of the weavers. The cotton warp and weft complement the all-wool pile, providing a sturdy foundation for the rug's structure. The double wefting, along with the heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique, results in a highly durable handwoven carpet.

With a mesmerizing and elegant design, this rug features the distinctive Harshang pattern, a beloved tribal style motif. The background of menthe contributes a refreshing and soothing aesthetic, while the coral border adds a touch of vibrancy. This rug measures an impressive size of 13'9" x 19'6", making it a captivating centerpiece for any space.

To further showcase the skill and dedication of the weavers, the rug is adorned with centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs. This authentic use of dyes imparts a richness and depth of color that cannot be replicated with synthetic materials.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 104, our meticulous calculations estimate that this rug contains a staggering total of 3,985,556 individually hand-tied knots. Each knot represents the careful attention to detail and artistry invested in the creation of this exceptional piece.

Immerse yourself in the beauty and cultural heritage of this Afghani rug. Its superior craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and timeless design make it a cherished addition to any collector's or connoisseur's collection.
