Introducing our exquisite rug, originating from Afghanistan, the Khotan Garden design takes center stage. This traditional style rug showcases a captivating background in indigo, perfectly complemented by a vibrant green border. Crafted with utmost care, this rug is made of wool on cotton, ensuring a comfortable and durable addition to any space.

The size of this rug is 2'7" x 17'6", offering ample coverage for large areas. Each knot in this rug is meticulously hand-tied by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for producing longer staple oily higher quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn in Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan.

Crafted using traditional floor looms in individual homes, this rug showcases the diligent craftsmanship of the weavers. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, enhanced by a cotton warp and weft with an all-wool pile. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving ensures the utmost durability in this handwoven masterpiece.

As for the exceptional color blue found in this rug, it is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs. Natural indigo dyes, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, have been used by humans for thousands of years. The deep blue hue adds a touch of sophistication to this already remarkable rug.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug boasts an impressive 514,494 individually hand-tied knots. The centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs create a truly authentic and timeless piece.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage and meticulous craftsmanship of this Afghani rug. With its stunning Khotan Garden design, traditional style, and impeccable quality, this rug is sure to elevate any living space.
