Introducing an exquisite handmade rug, originating from Afghanistan, this unique piece showcases a contemporary design known as "Small Fish." The rug features a delightful combination of colors, with a grape background and a teal border, beautifully complemented by the main color of purple.

Crafted by skilled weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is a true testament to their expertise. The wool used in its creation is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The region's mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple oily wool, which is renowned for its higher quality and ideal for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat. Here, it undergoes meticulous hand carding and spinning to transform it into fine carpet yarn. The rug is meticulously woven on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, representing a cottage industry style of production.

Employing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug boasts durability and longevity. The cotton warp and weft provide a sturdy foundation for the wool pile, ensuring its resilience for years to come. The double wefted construction and heavily packed depressed warp weaving further contribute to its exceptional durability.

Maintaining a rich heritage, this rug is dyed with all-natural substances, preserving centuries-old techniques. The result is a vibrant and captivating color palette that exudes authenticity and charm.

Measuring 3'0" x 4'10", this rug's dimensions make it a versatile addition to any space. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, we have painstakingly calculated that this particular rug boasts an impressive total of 165,018 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the allure of Afghan craftsmanship with this exquisite rug, blending contemporary design with traditional techniques. Experience the beauty and artistry of this piece, created by skilled weavers who take pride in their cultural heritage.
