Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring a Bakshaish Willow design with a captivating tribal style. This rug boasts a rich rust background and a striking blue border, creating a harmonious contrast that will enhance any space. Made from high-quality materials, the rug is crafted from wool on cotton, ensuring durability and a luxurious feel. Measuring 6'0" x 9'0", this rug is the perfect size to grace your living room, bedroom, or office.

Originating from Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is meticulously crafted with attention to detail. The wool used in its creation comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn in Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, this rug showcases an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring its authenticity and traditional charm. The cotton warp and weft, along with the all-wool pile, contribute to its durability and longevity. The double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique make this rug one of the sturdiest handwoven carpets available.

One notable feature of this rug is the use of all-natural dye stuffs. Its captivating blue hue is derived from natural indigo dyes, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo is one of the oldest known dyes used by humans, dating back thousands of years and celebrated for its vibrant blue shades. Another significant color in this rug is red, which comes from natural madder root dyes. Madder root, scientifically known as Rubia tinctorum, has a long history of use as a dyeing agent and produces an array of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades.

With a respectable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80 and a meticulous calculation, we have determined that this rug is adorned with an impressive 614,556 individually hand-tied knots, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship poured into its creation.

Experience the allure of this Afghani rug with its Bakshaish Willow design, tribal charm, and rich colors. Its timeless beauty and exceptional quality make it a treasured addition to any home or space.
