Introducing an exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this handwoven masterpiece showcases the traditional design of sauj balugh, belonging to the tribal style. With a background in a rich and captivating raisin color and a border adorned with a captivating shade of blue, this rug exudes elegance and charm.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is meticulously crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from the Ghazni Province in South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is expertly hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms within the weavers' own homes, showcasing the cottage industry type of production. Utilizing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and featuring a wool pile supported by a cotton warp and weft, this rug achieves a double-wefted construction with a heavily packed, depressed warp weaving. This construction ensures exceptional durability, making it one of the most resilient handwoven carpets available.

What further distinguishes this rug is the use of centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, adding an aura of authenticity and uniqueness. The result is a rug that showcases the rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship of Afghanistan.

It is worth noting that most rugs of this design are woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, cities known for their skilled weavers. The meticulous craftsmanship is evident with the use of 2-ply yarn per knot, showcasing the weavers' dedication to creating intricate and resilient rugs.

With a knots per square inch of 80, we have meticulously counted and calculated that this rug boasts a staggering 172,527 individually hand-tied knots in total. This attention to detail and fine craftsmanship guarantee that this rug is a true testament to the skilled and dedicated artisans who created it.

Measuring 3'1" by 4'11", it is the perfect size to accent any space and bring warmth and beauty to your home. Made of wool on cotton, this rug offers a luxurious feel and impeccable quality.

Immerse yourself in the richness of Afghan heritage and bring home this extraordinary rug, a testament to the skill, tradition, and artistry of its creators.
