Introducing an exquisite handwoven rug from Afghanistan, this unique piece showcases the timeless beauty of the Mamluk design. With a tribal style that emanates a sense of cultural heritage, this rug features a captivating blue background adorned with a green border, creating a visually stunning contrast. The main color, a rich and deep blue, adds a sense of tranquility to any space it graces.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is made using premium quality wool sourced from the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally yields longer staple, oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, where the skilled weavers hand-card and spin it into yarn, ready for the intricate process of rug making.

Each rug is woven on traditional, floor looms, within the comfort of the weavers' own homes, reflecting the cottage industry nature of production. Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, the weavers create a durable masterpiece. The double wefting and tightly packed, depressed warp weaving ensures the longevity of this handwoven treasure.

Indigo dye, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant, lends its enchanting blue hue to this rug. With a rich history dating back thousands of years, indigo has been used in diverse cultures to produce vibrant blue shades. This rug exemplifies the use of natural, centuries-old dye stuffs, preserving traditional techniques and adding to its allure.

Measuring 5'1" x 6'5", this rug boasts a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162. Based on this KPSI, we have calculated a total of 757,581 individually hand-tied knots, showcasing the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into creating each intricate design.

Add a touch of elegance and cultural richness to your home or space with this Afghani rug. Immerse yourself in the artistry and historical significance captured within its fibers.
