Introducing our exquisite Afghani Mamluk Tribal Rug, a truly remarkable piece crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The raw Ghazni wool used in this rug, sourced from the mountainous terrains of South East Afghanistan's Ghazni Province, is of the highest quality, known for its longer staple and superior oily nature, making it ideal for carpet weaving.

The Ghazni wool is meticulously hand-carted and hand-spun into carpet yarn in the western region of Afghanistan, near Herat, before being transformed into this masterpiece. The artisans employ a traditional floor loom weaving technique in their own homes, contributing to the cottage industry production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, along with the cotton warp and weft (with an all-wool pile), ensures the durability and longevity of this handwoven treasure.

In terms of design, the Afghani Mamluk Rug showcases a captivating tribal style. The rich navy background sets the stage for an intricate ivory border that elegantly frames the main design. Adorned with natural dyes extracted from centuries-old dye stuffs, this rug exudes a timeless charm, with shades of blue derived from the indigo plant. Indigo, being one of the oldest known dyes used by humans, imparts vibrant and captivating blue hues to this unique piece.

With a size of 5 '10" X 9 '1 ", this rug boasts a respectable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, which translates to a total of 603,011 meticulously hand-tied knots. Such meticulous craftsmanship ensures its longevity and provides an exquisite texture underfoot.

We are proud to present this Afghani Mamluk Tribal Rug, a true testament to the artistry and heritage of the Turkmen weavers. Immerse yourself in its captivating design and quality craftsmanship, as it adds elegance and character to any space it graces.
