Introducing one of our exquisite rugs, this magnificent piece originates from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeast region. It showcases a captivating Mamluk design, which is complemented by its tribal style. The background color of this rug is a rich aubergine, creating a striking base for the intricate patterns and motifs. The border, on the other hand, features a warm rust tone, adding depth and sophistication to the overall composition.

Crafted with care and expertise, this rug is made using high-quality materials. The content of the rug consists of wool on a cotton foundation, ensuring durability and longevity. With a size of 8'2" x 9'8", it offers ample coverage to enhance any space.

The weaving process of this rug is a true work of art. It is intricately woven by skilled Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used is sourced locally from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for its mountainous terrain, resulting in longer, finer, and oilier wool fibers ideal for rug weaving.

To create this masterpiece, the raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat. Here, it is meticulously hand-carded and spun into delicate carpet yarn ready for weaving. The rugs are woven on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes or as part of a cottage industry type production.

A unique characteristic of this rug is its asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. With a cotton warp and weft and an all-wool pile, it exhibits a double-wefted construction. The heavily packed warp weaving technique employed makes this rug remarkably robust, ensuring its durability for generations to come.

Adding to its allure, this rug features centuries-old natural dye stuffs, further enhancing its timeless appeal. The result is a visually stunning piece that will instantly elevate the ambiance of any space it graces.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104, this rug exemplifies the meticulous craftsmanship employed by the skilled weavers. Based on this KPSI, we can proudly state that this remarkable rug consists of a staggering 1,173,482 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the captivating beauty of this Afghani Mamluk tribal rug, where every knot is a testament to the weaving traditions passed down through generations and a testament to the rich heritage of rug making.
