Introducing our exquisite Afghani Mamluk Tribal Rug, a true masterpiece in the world of antique rugs. This remarkable rug originates from Afghanistan and showcases the intricate design of the Mamluk style. Its background is beautifully adorned in a grape hue, complemented by a vibrant fuscia border. The main color, purple, adds a touch of regality to this stunning piece.

Crafted with the utmost attention to detail, this rug is made from high-quality wool on a cotton foundation. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is meticulously hand carted and spun into carpet yarn.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, right in the weavers' own homes. This cottage industry type production ensures the utmost care and dedication are put into each rug. Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, every knot is meticulously tied by hand, resulting in a truly exceptional piece.

For added strength and durability, this rug features a cotton warp and weft, with an all-wool pile. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique contributes to its exceptional durability, making it one of the most long-lasting handwoven carpets available today.

One of the most captivating aspects of this rug lies in its use of centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs. The colors beautifully blend together to create a harmonious and inviting ambiance.

Measuring at 5'0" x 6'6", this rug is the perfect size to accent any room in your home. With a remarkable knot count of 162 knots per square inch, we estimate that our rug is adorned with an astonishing total of 754,840 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage and unrivaled craftsmanship of this Afghani Mamluk Tribal Rug. Experience the beauty and history woven into every fiber of this exceptional piece.
