Introducing the exquisite and remarkable Afghani rug, featuring the timeless Mamluk design. This tribal-style rug emanates a sense of authenticity and cultural richness. The background color of this rug is a beautiful shade of grape, while the border is navy, complementing the overall design. The predominant color that adorns this rug is a mesmerizing purple.

Crafted with utmost precision and care, this rug showcases the proud craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain, which naturally yields longer staple, oily wool of superior quality for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning into carpet yarn, ready to be crafted into a masterpiece. Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug represents the beauty of cottage industry type production.

The weaving technique employed in this rug is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring durability and longevity. It boasts a cotton warp and weft, with a luxuriously soft and plush all-wool pile. The double-wefted and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique used in this rug further enhances its durability, making it one of the most resilient handwoven carpets available.

Adding to its allure, this rug features centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, providing a vibrant and enduring color palette. The rich history and artistry embedded in each individual knot truly make this rug a unique treasure.

Measuring at 8'11" X 12'1", this rug is a substantial and impactful piece that can transform any space. With a remarkable knots per square inch count of 162, we calculated that this rug boasts an impressive total of 2,502,426 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the beauty and heritage of this Afghani Mamluk rug, perfect for those who appreciate the intricate details, cultural significance, and exceptional craftsmanship that only a rug of this caliber can offer.
