Introducing our exquisite Afghan Mamluk Tribal Rug, a true masterpiece that effortlessly combines traditional design and superior craftsmanship. This rug originates from Afghanistan, more specifically from the Esari Subtribe within the Ghazni Province. The weavers of this rug are skilled ethnic Turkmen artisans who have a deep-rooted understanding of their craft.

To ensure the highest quality, the wool used in this rug comes from sheep grazing in the mountainous terrain of the Ghazni Province. This environment produces longer staple, oily wool that is ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn, ready for the weaving process.

With a nod to its tribal roots, this rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, embracing a cottage industry type of production. The use of asymmetrical "Persian" knot type adds a distinctive touch to the overall design. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the pile consists of luxurious wool. The double wefted weaving technique, along with depressed warp weaving, results in a rug that is exceptionally durable and built to withstand the test of time.

What truly sets this rug apart is the use of centuries-old natural dye stuffs. These dyes, derived from various plant and mineral sources, lend a rich and authentic color palette to the rug. The background features a soothing beige hue, beautifully complemented by a cherry border, adding depth and character to the overall design.

Measuring at 3'10" x 6'3", this Afghan Mamluk Tribal Rug is a stunning example of the meticulous artistry and cultural heritage embraced by its makers. With a noteworthy knot count of 104 knots per square inch, we estimate that this rug boasts an impressive total of 356,126 individually hand-tied knots.

Bringing warmth, elegance, and a touch of history into any space, this rug is the perfect addition to your collection. Don't miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of Afghan craftsmanship that is destined to be cherished for generations to come.
