Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug with an Anatolian kilim design. This tribal-style rug boasts a rust background accentuated by a navy border, creating a visually striking piece. Crafted with care, this rug is made of 100% wool pile on a cotton warp and weft, adding to its durability and longevity. Measuring 8'0" x 10'0", it is perfectly sized to enhance any room.

Originating from Afghanistan, the wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province. Renowned for its mountainous terrain, this region produces high-quality, long-staple wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn. Each rug is meticulously woven on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes or within cottage industries.

Featuring the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug is expertly crafted with attention to detail. The double-wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures exceptional durability, making it suitable for high-traffic areas. The centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs used in this rug result in a rich and vibrant red color. The red dye is derived from madder roots, scientifically known as Rubia tinctorum. Madder root dyes have a long history of use as dyeing agents and have been cultivated for centuries in various parts of the world. They can produce an array of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and character to the rug.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, our team meticulously calculated that this rug has a total of 910,453 individually hand-tied knots. This intricate craftsmanship ensures its exceptional quality and intricacy.

Embrace the timeless beauty and cultural significance of this Afghani rug. Its unique design, meticulous construction, and rich history make it a standout piece in any collection or interior decor.
