Introducing our exquisite Pakistani rug with a traditional Bakshaish design. This tribal-style rug features a captivating background of gold, perfectly complemented by a vibrant red border. The main color of this rug is a warm and inviting yellow, creating a visually stunning piece for any space.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is made from high-quality wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region enables the production of longer staple, oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and spun into luxurious carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms, skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, often from the Esari Subtribe, meticulously create this rug in their own homes as a cottage industry. The asymmetrical "Persian" knotting technique, combined with a cotton warp and weft and an all-wool pile, ensures the durability and longevity of this handwoven masterpiece.

For centuries, natural dye stuffs have been used to achieve the rich colors seen in this rug. The red dye in particular is derived from madder roots. Madder root dyes, obtained from the Rubia tinctorum plant, have a long history as a valuable and sought-after dyeing agent. Cultivated in various parts of the world, madder roots can produce a range of warm and cool shades of red, orange, pink, and brown.

With a knot density of 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the incredible skill and precision of its weavers. To give you an idea of the sheer dedication that goes into creating this rug, we have calculated that it features an astonishing 1,013,595 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Measuring at 7'11" x 11'3", this new rug is an impressive addition to any room. Its timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship make it a prized piece for collectors and rug enthusiasts alike. Bring a touch of elegance to your space with this remarkable Pakistani Bakshaish tribal rug.
