Introducing our exquisite rug, originating from Afghanistan, with a fantastic design known as Sauj Balugh. This tribal-style rug features a stunning platinum background complemented by a moss border, creating an elegant and eye-catching piece. Crafted with utmost precision and attention to detail, this rug showcases the skill and artistry of ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe.

The wool used in the making of this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher-quality wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes hand carting and hand spinning, transforming it into exquisite carpet yarn.

With a traditional floor loom, these rugs are woven in the weavers' homes, contributing to a cottage industry type of production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, combined with a cotton warp and weft, results in a durable and long-lasting rug. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique employed in its creation ensures the utmost durability.

One of the unique features of this rug is the use of centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, adding an element of timelessness and authenticity to its design. To achieve the intricate patterns and colors, the rug weavers employ a dyeing process that has been passed down through generations, ensuring the preservation of traditional techniques.

Measuring at an impressive 12'10" X 16'7", this rug is a statement piece that will add sophistication and elegance to any space. With a density of 80 knots per square inch (KPSI), we have carefully calculated that this rug boasts a total of 2,422,016 individually hand-tied knots. This impeccable attention to detail and craftsmanship further enhances the value and allure of this rug.

Embrace the rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan and bring home a piece of art that combines tradition, skill, and beauty. This rug, with its captivating design and exceptional quality, is a testament to the expertise and artistry of Afghan weavers.
