Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, boasting a captivating design known as Seychour, this tribal-style masterpiece showcases a majestic blend of ivory background and rustic borders. Its origins lie in the Afghani region, where skilled weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, meticulously crafted this piece.

Made with the finest materials, this rug features a wool pile on a cotton base, ensuring both durability and quality. The wool used in its creation hails from the Ghazni Province in South East Afghanistan, renowned for its mountainous terrain, which naturally yields longer staple oily wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand-carded and spun into carpet yarn.

Embracing traditional techniques, this rug was woven on floor looms within the weavers' own homes, reflecting a cottage industry approach. Employing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, the weft consists of all-natural wool, while the warp is crafted from cotton, resulting in a double-wefted and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique. This meticulous craftsmanship ensures the utmost durability and longevity, making it one of the most sought-after handwoven carpets of today.

Adding to its timeless allure, this rug features centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, evoking a sense of depth and richness in its color palette. Its harmonious combination of tribal design elements and Afghani craftsmanship creates a truly remarkable piece that will elevate any space it graces.

Furthermore, this astonishing rug is woven primarily in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, incorporating a 2-ply yarn per knot. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, we have accurately calculated that this rug encompasses an impressive 602,385 individually hand-tied knots in total.

With its Afghani heritage, mesmerizing design, and impeccable craftsmanship, this remarkable rug is an exceptional addition to any collection or interior setting. Experience the allure and allure of this Afghani Seychour rug today.
