Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring the renowned Bakshaish design with a tribal style. Originating from Afghanistan, this rug showcases the richness of Afghani craftsmanship. The background color of this rug is a captivating rust shade, while the border elegantly contrasts with navy tones. The main color of this rug is a vibrant red, adding a bold touch to any interior.

Crafted using the finest materials, this rug boasts a high-quality construction made of wool on cotton. The wool utilized in the creation of this rug comes from the Ghazni Province in South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that naturally yields longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into yarn ready for carpet weaving.

The weaving process of this rug is steeped in tradition, with talented ethnic Turkmen weavers primarily from the Esari Subtribe. These weavers employ traditional floor looms in their own homes, contributing to a cottage industry type of production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type adds to the rug's authenticity and character.

Durability is a key characteristic of this handwoven masterpiece. Its construction features a cotton warp and weft, with a double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving, ensuring exceptional longevity. The centuries-old use of natural dye stuffs imparts a unique charm to this rug.

Let's not forget the mesmerizing red color of this rug, derived from natural madder root dyes. Madder root dyes, obtained from the Rubia tinctorum plant, have been used for centuries as a dyeing agent. They yield a wide range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and richness to the rug's design.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, our experts have calculated that this rug boasts an impressive total of 1,501,456 individually hand-tied knots. This meticulous craftsmanship guarantees a rug of exceptional quality, destined to become an heirloom piece.
