Introducing our exquisite Afghan Serapi Tribal Rug, featuring a captivating design that is sure to add a touch of sophistication to any space. Crafted in Afghanistan, this rug originates from the Esari Subtribe and showcases the traditional tribal style.

The background of this rug boasts a charming ivory hue, beautifully complemented by a light blue border. The overall color scheme exudes elegance and will effortlessly blend with various interior styles. Made from high-quality wool on a cotton foundation, this rug ensures both durability and comfort.

Measuring at 7'10" x 9'9", this rug offers generous dimensions, allowing it to become the focal point of any room. Its size is perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in larger spaces.

Let's talk about the craftsmanship behind this masterpiece. Skilled Turkmen weavers predominantly from the Esari Subtribe dedicated their expertise to bring this rug to life. The wool used in the creation of this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The region's mountainous terrain naturally facilitates the growth of longer staple oily wool, which is ideal for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is meticulously hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn. These traditional techniques ensure the highest quality materials for weaving.

Every rug is meticulously woven on traditional floor looms, often within the weavers' own homes, embracing a cottage industry approach. Asymmetrical "Persian" knotting technique is employed, resulting in a truly authentic piece. The pile of this rug is made of pure wool, while the warp and weft are crafted from cotton.

To ensure the utmost durability, this rug features double wefting and heavily packed, depressed warp weaving. These meticulous details solidify its position as one of today's most durable handwoven carpets.

What makes this rug even more special is the use of centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating light blue in the border originates from natural indigo dye, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. This dyeing process, known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, has been used for thousands of years to create vibrant blue hues.

With a knot per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug showcases the weavers' exceptional attention to detail. We have meticulously calculated that this rug boasts an impressive total of 869,194 individually hand-tied knots, further enhancing its value and beauty.

Experience the allure of this Afghan Serapi Tribal Rug, a true testament to the rich history and craftsmanship of Afghani rug weaving. Perfect for both traditional and contemporary interiors, it is a treasure that will grace your home for years to come.
