Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan! This Afghan rug boasts a stunning arabesque design, making it a truly exceptional piece. Crafted by skilled weavers from the Esari Subtribe, it showcases the rich weaving tradition of this region.

The rug features a striking grey background, beautifully complemented by a lime border, adding a touch of vibrancy to its overall aesthetic. It measures 5'1" x 6'6" in size, making it a versatile addition to any space.

Made with care and precision, this rug boasts a transitional style, combining traditional elements with contemporary influences. It is handwoven using wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region yields longer staple, oily wool of exceptional quality, ideal for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is meticulously brought to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn. Our rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, representing the cottage industry type of production. Employing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug exhibits the weavers' exceptional skill and dedication.

Crafted with durability in mind, this rug features a cotton warp and weft, with an all-wool pile. The double wefted and heavily packed warp weaving technique ensures its longevity, making it one of the most resilient handwoven carpets available today.

Adding to its allure, this rug showcases centuries-old dyeing techniques, utilizing all-natural dye stuffs. This traditional approach to dyeing imbues the rug with a timeless elegance and depth of color.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, our rug exhibits meticulous craftsmanship. To give you an idea of the immense effort involved, we have calculated that there are 376,033 individually hand-tied knots in this exquisite piece.

From the origin of the wool to the intricate weaving process, this Afghan rug represents the artistry and expertise of the weavers. We invite you to experience the allure of this exceptional rug and bring a touch of Afghan heritage into your home.
