Introducing the Soft Melody Collection, this rug showcases a blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation. Originating in and around the city of Agra, India, these rugs are meticulously handwoven by artisans using practices that have been refined over centuries.

The Soft Melody rug is crafted with a luxurious blend of imported, long-staple New Zealand wool (50-75% of the blend) and superior local or South African wool. This unique composition imparts a shinier and more lustrous finish compared to rugs made solely from local wools. The imported New Zealand wool is carefully hand-carded and hand-spun into yarn, supporting the local economy.

Notably, the yarn used in the Soft Melody rug is a single-ply thread, distinguishing it from the more common two-ply yarns. This single-ply characteristic, combined with the use of an asymmetrical Persian-type knot, results in a denser and nubbier texture with pronounced knots, enhancing both its tactile and visual appeal.

Renowned for their 6x6 quality, these rugs reflect the intricate craftsmanship involved, providing robustness and clarity in design. With a 100% wool pile and cotton foundations, these rugs are tightly spun with double-wefting and have a pile height of approximately 3/8 inch. The handspun nature of the yarn contributes to subtle color variations, giving each rug a unique aesthetic due to the artisanal dyeing techniques employed.

To ensure long-lasting vibrancy, these rugs are dyed using chromium (or chrome) dyes that resist fading. These high-quality chromium dyes, primarily imported from Switzerland, are applied to the wool in India, combining international and local resources.
