Introducing a remarkable rug from Afghanistan, this stunning piece showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, with many hailing from the Esari Subtribe. The design of this rug features the timeless beauty of Arabesque, capturing the essence of traditional Afghan artistry.

With a navy background and a rust-colored border, the main color palette of this rug revolves around a captivating shade of blue. The deep blue hue is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, which have been used by humans for thousands of years to create vibrant and enduring blue tones.

Measuring 6 '1 " X 8 '10" in size, this rug is meticulously crafted using high-quality materials. The pile is made of all wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. This region's mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn, ready for the weaving process.

The rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, reflecting the cottage industry approach to production. The asymmetric "Persian" knot type is used in the weaving process, resulting in a durable and long-lasting rug. The warp and weft are made of cotton, offering stability and support to the woolen pile.

Boasting centuries-old techniques, this rug is dyed using all-natural substances, ensuring an authentic and organic color palette. Its exceptional knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104 exemplify the meticulous attention to detail and remarkable skill of the weavers. Based on the KPSI, it is estimated that this rug consists of approximately 798,755 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Overall, this Afghan rug is a true masterpiece, combining the rich heritage of Afghan weaving with the timeless beauty of Arabesque design. Its superb craftsmanship, natural materials, and stunning coloration make it an exceptional addition to any space, bringing warmth, history, and artistry to your home.
