Introducing our exquisite rug, originating from Afghanistan and boasting a stunning Arabesque design. This transitional style masterpiece features an ivory background with a navy border, creating a harmonious contrast that enhances its visual appeal. Crafted using the finest materials, this rug is made of wool on a cotton foundation, ensuring both durability and comfort.

The rug measures 8'0" x 9'10", offering ample coverage for your living space. Its skilled craftsmanship can be attributed to the talented Ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, renowned for its high-quality, longer staple, and oily wool. This mountainous region provides a natural environment conducive to producing superior wool for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is brought to the western side of Afghanistan, particularly around Herat, where it undergoes the careful process of hand carding and hand spinning into carpet yarn. Each rug is woven on traditional floor looms, situated in the weavers' own homes or cottage industries, ensuring an authentic and cherished touch to every piece.

The intricate weaving technique employed in this rug is known as the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, while the warp and weft consist of cotton. In the spirit of time-honored tradition, this rug features double wefted, heavily packed, and depressed warp weaving, making it one of the most durable handwoven carpets available today.

To enhance its aesthetic allure, this rug is adorned with centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, showcasing the dedication and expertise of the weavers. Its knots per square inch (KPSI) measure an impressive 162, reflecting the meticulous attention to detail that goes into its creation. In fact, we have calculated that this rug boasts an astounding 1,827,094 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Experience the beauty and heritage of Afghan craftsmanship with our captivating Arabesque transitional rug. Its wealth of historical and cultural significance makes it a valuable addition to any discerning collector's abode.
