Introducing our unique Afghani rug with an exquisite arabesque design! This tribal-style rug features a light blue background and a rust-colored border, creating a captivating contrast. Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is a true work of art.
The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily wool of higher quality for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan around Herat, where it is hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn.
Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug showcases an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft. The double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures the utmost durability.
Centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs are used to bring this rug to life. The captivating blue color is derived from natural indigo dye, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo. Indigo has a rich history dating back thousands of years and has been widely used in various cultures around the world to produce vibrant blue hues.
With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104, this rug boasts a remarkable level of detail and craftsmanship. Through careful calculations based on the KPSI, we estimate that this rug features a remarkable 1,216,109 individually hand-tied knots in total.
Measuring 8'3" x 9'11", this Afghani rug is a statement piece that will surely enhance any living space. Don't miss the opportunity to add this stunning rug to your collection.
