Introducing our exquisite handwoven rug from Afghanistan, this captivating piece showcases the skilled craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The design features a breathtaking arabesque pattern, adding an element of elegance to any space.

Originating from the Ghazni Province in the southeastern part of Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain naturally nurtures sheep producing longer staple, oily, and high-quality wool. This remarkable wool is then transported to Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan, where it is meticulously hand carted and spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.

Using traditional floor looms within the comfort of their own homes, skilled artisans employ the asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique to create this captivating rug. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the pile consists of luxurious wool, ensuring both durability and comfort. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique results in a rug that stands the test of time.

To achieve the vibrant and rich colors that adorn this rug, only centuries-old natural dye stuffs are utilized, guaranteeing both authenticity and a unique character. The enchanting pistachio background beautifully complements the expressive rust border, while the dominant green hue adds a refreshing touch to your surroundings.

Measuring at 2'9" x 11'5", this rug offers a generous size, making it a perfect centerpiece for larger living areas or to elegantly span a hallway. With a knots per square inch of 80, we estimate that this rug has an impressive 357,306 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the skill and dedication poured into its creation.

Transport yourself to the heart of Afghanistan with this extraordinary handwoven rug, an exceptional piece that boasts a rich heritage, meticulous craftsmanship, and an unmistakable tribal charm. Let the warmth and elegance of this masterpiece grace your home with its timeless beauty.
