Introducing the exquisite Afghani rug boasting a captivating design known as the Armenian Dragon. This tribal-style rug comes with a medium blue background and a stunning rose border, creating a harmonious contrast. Crafted with meticulous care, this rug is made of wool on cotton, ensuring both comfort and durability. With a size of 8'10" X 11'10", it provides ample coverage for any room.

Hailing from ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug showcases the artistry of Afghan craftsmanship. The wool used in its creation is sourced from the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that yields long staple oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it is hand carded and spun into carpet yarn, ready for the weaving process.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, this rug follows an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, further enhancing its authenticity. The use of cotton for the warp and weft, and wool for the pile, results in a double-wefted, heavily packed, and depressed warp weaving technique, ensuring the utmost durability.

One remarkable feature of this rug lies in its use of centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, creating a truly magnificent and timeless piece. The color blue derives from natural indigo dye stuffs, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. This ancient dye, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, has been revered for centuries for its ability to produce vibrant blue hues.

Remarkably, this rug showcases 80 knots per square inch, demonstrating the intricate detail and craftsmanship that went into its creation. This translates to a staggering total of 1,189,588 individually hand-tied knots throughout the rug.

Immerse yourself in the richness of Afghan heritage with this awe-inspiring Afghani rug. Its exceptional design, meticulous craftsmanship, and use of natural dye stuffs make it a cherished addition to any room, exuding timeless elegance and captivating allure.
