Introducing our exquisite Afghan Bakshaish tribal rug, originating from Afghanistan. This rug showcases the traditional Bakshaish design, known for its unique motifs and tribal aesthetic. The background of this rug features a stunning coral hue, while the medium blue border adds a touch of elegance. The main color of this rug is a rich red, adding warmth and character to any space.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is made using wool on cotton, ensuring both durability and comfort. The dimensions of this rug are 7'9" x 10'1", making it a perfect addition to larger rooms or open living spaces.

The weavers of this rug hail from the Esari Subtribe of ethnic Turkmen weavers. They source the wool for this rug from the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, renowned for its mountainous terrain that yields high-quality wool. The wool is then hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn in the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, these skilled weavers produce this rug using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, while the pile is made entirely of wool. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures the utmost durability, making this rug a lasting investment.

As for the coloring, the vibrant blue hues in this rug are achieved using natural indigo dyes derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. With a history dating back thousands of years, indigo has been widely used in various cultures to create rich blue tones.

The red shades in this rug are derived from natural madder root dyes. Madder dyes have been cultivated for centuries and can produce warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown hues. This natural dye has a long history of use in dyeing and is cherished by various cultures worldwide.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, our calculation indicates that this rug has an impressive 889,348 individually hand-tied knots in total. This meticulous craftsmanship ensures the finest quality and attention to detail.

Elevate your space with the timeless beauty and exceptional craftsmanship of our Afghan Bakshaish tribal rug. Embrace the rich cultural heritage and add a touch of elegance to your home decor.
