Introducing our exquisite new rug from Afghanistan, featuring the intricate Bakshaish Willow design. This transitional style rug showcases a calming ivory background and a navy border, creating a captivating contrast.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is made of wool on a cotton foundation, ensuring both comfort and durability. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, known for producing high-quality, longer staple, and oily wool ideal for carpet weaving.

The wool is carefully hand carted and spun into carpet yarn in the western part of Afghanistan, near Herat. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, reflecting a cottage industry approach. The skilled weavers employ an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, contributing to the rug's authenticity and charm. The cotton warp and weft, combined with a double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique, result in a remarkably durable handwoven rug.

Bringing history and tradition to life, this rug is naturally dyed using centuries-old techniques and all-natural dye stuffs. The result is a captivating color palette that will enhance any space.

Measuring 4'0" x 5'11", this rug boasts a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, amounting to an impressive total of 269,343 individually hand-tied knots.

Experience the exquisite craftsmanship and timeless beauty of our Afghan rug, perfect for adding elegance and warmth to any interior.
