Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, featuring the enchanting Bakshaish Willow design. This tribal-style rug showcases a sage background with a charming brick border, creating a visually captivating piece. Crafted with meticulous care, this rug is made of high-quality wool on a cotton foundation, ensuring its durability and longevity.

Originating from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeastern region, the wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep thriving in the mountainous terrains. This natural environment allows for the growth of longer staple, oily wool, which is ideal for carpet weaving. After collecting the raw Ghazni wool, it is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the skilled process of hand carting and hand spinning into carpet yarn.

Following this, the weaving of this rug takes place on traditional floor looms within the weavers' homes, reflecting a cottage industry production style. Employing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug showcases the expertise and artistry of the Ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The weavers utilize a cotton warp and weft, while the wool pile ensures a luxurious texture and feel.

To create a sturdy and resilient structure, this rug incorporates a double-wefted design, with a heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique. The result is one of the most enduring and sturdy handwoven carpets available. Additionally, this exceptional rug features all-natural dye stuffs, showcasing centuries-old traditions in the art of dyeing.

Measuring at 2 feet 8 inches by 9 feet 7 inches, this rug will infuse any space with its unique charm and character. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, we have calculated that this rug consists of an impressive total of 290,841 individually hand-tied knots. These intricate details and fine craftsmanship make this rug a truly valuable and timeless addition to any collection.

Embrace the allure of Afghan artistry and elevate your space with this remarkable Bakshaish Willow tribal rug. Experience the beauty and craftsmanship of this piece, as it adds warmth, elegance, and a touch of cultural heritage to your home.
