Introducing the stunning Afghani rug with a beautiful Bakshaish Willow design. With its tribal style and denim background, this rug is a true masterpiece. The green border adds a touch of sophistication to the overall design. Crafted from high-quality materials, this rug is made of wool on cotton, ensuring durability and comfort.

Measuring at 5'1" x 8'2", this rug is the perfect size for adding elegance to any space. Its origin in Afghanistan makes it an authentic piece, meticulously woven by ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool desired for carpet weaving.

To create this rug, the raw Ghazni wool is brought to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically Herat, where it undergoes the hand carding and hand spinning process to transform it into carpet yarn ready for weaving. The weaving itself takes place in the weavers' own homes, utilizing traditional floor looms in a cottage industry type production. Employing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft (wool pile), this rug exhibits outstanding craftsmanship. Its double-wefted, heavily packed, depressed warp weaving ensures its durability, making it one of the most durable handwoven carpets available today.

Furthermore, the colors in this rug are derived from all-natural dye stuffs, giving it a timeless appeal. Notably, the blue color is obtained from natural indigo dye, which has a history dating back thousands of years. This dye, extracted from the leaves of the indigo plant, has been widely used across various cultures worldwide, resulting in vibrant blue hues that captivate the eyes.

With 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases not only its exquisite design but also the immense effort put into creating it. The meticulous craftsmanship is evident in the 472,454 individually hand-tied knots found in this rug.

Intricate, timeless, and crafted with precision, this Afghani rug with its Bakshaish Willow design is a true testament to the artistry and expertise of its creators. A wonderful addition to any home or collection, it is guaranteed to be a conversation starter and a cherished piece for years to come.
