Introducing our exquisite Pakistani rug with a traditional design known as botehs. This rug showcases the mastery of ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain naturally yields longer staple oily high-quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes meticulous hand carding and spinning, transforming it into carpet yarn ready for weaving.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug embodies the cottage industry type of production. It features an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, with a cotton warp and weft providing a strong foundation for the all-wool pile. The double-wefted construction and heavily packed depressed warp weaving make this rug exceptionally durable, ensuring its longevity for years to come.

The background of this rug is a rich burgundy, beautifully complemented by an ivory border. The main color dominating the design is a vibrant red, highlighting the intricate boteh motifs throughout. Measuring 11'9" x 14'9", this rug offers ample space to enhance the aesthetic of any room.

To further emphasize its artistry, this rug utilizes all-natural dye stuff derived from madder root. Madder root dyes, sourced from the Rubia tinctorum plant, have a long history as a dyeing agent and have been cultivated for centuries around the world. They can produce a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and character to the rug's design.

With a remarkable knot density of 162 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the meticulous craftsmanship of skilled weavers. In fact, based on its knots per square inch, we have calculated that this rug comprises an astonishing 4,025,330 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of this Pakistani rug, where tradition and artistry combine to create a timeless masterpiece.
