Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring the elegant cypress lavar design. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this traditional style rug offers a touch of timeless beauty to any space.

With a light blue background and an ivory border, this rug boasts a main color of enchanting blue, adding a soothing and tranquil element to your home. Made from premium quality wool on a cotton base, this new rug combines comfort and durability, ensuring its longevity for years to come.

The creation of this rug involves a fascinating process carried out by ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that yields longer staple oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. After careful sourcing, the raw Ghazni wool is brought to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms, the weaving takes place in the weavers' homes, reflecting a cottage industry-type production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and the double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique result in a durable and robust rug, capable of withstanding daily wear and tear.

The rich blue color in this rug is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, obtained from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo has been used as a dye for thousands of years, producing vibrant and enduring blue hues. By incorporating this natural dye, our Afghani rug evokes a sense of ancient tradition and authenticity.

Exceptionally crafted, this rug features a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, comprising a total of 3,135,490 individually hand-tied knots. Its size of 10'0" x 13'6" makes it a striking centerpiece in any room, commanding attention and inviting admiration.
