Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this particular piece showcases the artistry of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug features a transitional design known as Harshang, blending traditional and contemporary elements seamlessly.

To begin, the rug's origins can be traced back to the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain nurtures sheep producing high-quality, long-staple wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically Herat, where it is painstakingly hand carded and spun into fine carpet yarn.

This rug is lovingly woven on traditional floor looms, often within the weaver's own home or as part of a cottage industry. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot, ensuring durability and longevity in its construction.

With a background adorned in a striking silver hue and a sage border, this rug radiates elegance. The predominant color scheme features shades of grey, adding a touch of sophistication and versatility to any space.

Crafted from wool piled on a cotton foundation, this rug exudes a luxurious feel underfoot. Notably, it undergoes a double wefted weaving process, resulting in a densely packed, heavily depressed warp. This intricate weaving technique contributes to its exceptional durability, making it a lasting investment.

In line with the rug's commitment to authenticity, all-natural dye stuffs, centuries-old, are used in creating the vibrant colors seen throughout the design.

Measuring at 9 '1 " X 12'2 ", this rug showcases a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 80. Through careful calculation, we have determined that this rug boasts a staggering total of 1,257,720 individually hand-tied knots.

Experience the timeless beauty and exceptional craftsmanship of this Afghan rug, a true testament to the skill and dedication of the talented weavers who bring it to life. Enrich your space with its captivating design and luxurious texture, creating an ambiance of warmth and elegance.
