Introducing our exquisite circular rug, originating from Afghanistan, with a design inspired by the traditional Harshang style. This tribal rug features a captivating background in taupe, adorned with an elegant navy border and a beige main color. Crafted with care, this new rug is made with wool on a cotton foundation, ensuring both comfort and durability. With dimensions of 4'9" x 4'11", this rug is perfect for adding a touch of charm to any space.
This rug is the result of the skilled craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain and the production of high-quality, longer staple wool. After the raw Ghazni wool is brought to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically Herat, it undergoes the meticulous processes of hand carding and hand spinning, transforming it into carpet yarn of exceptional quality.
The weaving of this rug takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, reflecting a cottage industry type production. These rugs are woven with an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, with a cotton warp and weft, and a wool pile. The double wefted technique, combined with the heavily packed depressed warp weaving, ensures that this rug is exceptionally durable, embodying centuries-old weaving techniques.
For those intrigued by the intricate details, this rug has a knots per square inch of 80, resulting in a total of 265,787 individually hand-tied knots. Its authentic nature is further underlined by the use of natural dye stuffs, as per tradition.
Indulge in the elegance of this Afghani rug, meticulously crafted by skilled weavers, where artistry and tradition intersect to create a timeless masterpiece for your home or office.
