Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, showcasing the timeless beauty of the Harshang design. This tribal-style rug captivates with its light blue background and a radiant gold border, creating a stunning contrast that enhances any space.

Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug features a blend of wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The remote, mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily wool, known for its superior quality in carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning into carpet yarn.

Every thread of this rug is meticulously woven on traditional floor looms, with each weaver creating their unique masterpiece within the comfort of their own home. This cottage industry approach ensures a personal touch and allows for the preservation of traditional weaving techniques. Utilizing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot style and a cotton warp and weft, this rug combines durability and comfort.

Notably, this rug boasts centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, lending it a captivating depth of color. The ethereal blue hue is derived from natural indigo dyes, extracted from the leaves of the indigo plant. Known for its rich history spanning millennia, indigo has been revered across cultures for its ability to produce vibrant blue shades.

With a knot count of 104 per square inch, this rug showcases exceptional craftsmanship. Based on the KPSI (knots per square inch), we estimate that a staggering 1,575,635 individual knots have been meticulously hand-tied to bring this masterpiece to life.

Embrace the heritage and grace of this Afghani rug in your home, as it brings a touch of timeless elegance and cultural significance to your space.
