Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug from the Harshang design series. This stunning piece is a tribal-style rug with an emerald background and a tasteful grey border. Its majestic main color is teal, which adds a touch of elegance to any room.

This rug is crafted with care and precision, using high-quality materials. It features a new condition, made from wool on cotton for a durable and comfortable feel. Measuring at a generous size of 12'0" x 15'0", it's perfect for larger spaces.

The origin of this rug is Afghani, specifically from the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan. The local weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe, gather wool from the sheep grazing in the mountainous terrain of this region. This natural environment produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool ideal for carpet weaving.

To bring out the best in the wool, it is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the hand carting and hand spinning process. The wool is transformed into carpet yarn, ready to be woven on traditional floor looms. This production takes place in the weavers' own homes, emphasizing a cottage industry-type approach.

The weaving technique used for this rug is an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring its authenticity. Its composition consists of a cotton warp and weft, while the pile is made entirely of wool. The rug boasts double wefting, which contributes to its durability. The depressed warp weaving technique employed during the creation further adds to its strength, guaranteeing a rug that will stand the test of time.

As for the dyeing process, only all-natural dye stuffs are used, which have been utilized for centuries to achieve rich and vibrant colors. This reflects the commitment to preserving the traditional and authentic nature of the rug.

Most rugs in this series are woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, utilizing a 2-ply yarn per knot technique. Our specific rug has an impressive 80 knots per square inch, resulting in a total of 2,048,520 individually hand-tied knots throughout the entire rug.

In conclusion, this Afghani rug from the Harshang design series is an exquisite piece with a rich history and exceptional craftsmanship. Its tribal style and elegant colors make it a valuable addition to any space. Whether you're looking for a statement piece or seeking to enhance the ambiance of your home, this rug is sure to captivate and impress.
