Introducing the Soft Melody collection, this circular rug showcases a stunning blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation. Originating from Agra, India, these handwoven rugs are created by skilled artisans using time-honored techniques.
The Soft Melody rug is crafted using a luxurious mix of imported, long-staple New Zealand wool (comprising 50-75% of the blend) and superior local or South African wool. This unique combination results in a shinier and more lustrous finish compared to rugs made solely from local wools. The imported New Zealand wool is painstakingly hand-carded and hand-spun into yarn, supporting the local economy of the surrounding regions.
What truly sets these rugs apart is the use of single-ply yarn. Unlike common two-ply yarns, each knot in a Soft Melody rug incorporates a single thread, creating a thicker, denser, and heavier texture. The asymmetrical Persian-type knot enhances the rug's visual and tactile appeal, with pronounced knots adding to its unique charm.
The Soft Melody rugs boast a 6x6 quality, reflecting the intricate craftsmanship involved and contributing to the rug's durability and design clarity. Constructed with a 100% wool pile and a cotton foundation, these rugs feature tightly spun cotton warps and are mostly double-wefted. With a pile height of approximately 3/8 inch, the handspun yarn ensures subtle color variations that enhance each rug's individual aesthetic.
To ensure long-lasting vibrancy, the Soft Melody rugs are colored using chromium dyes. These high-quality dyes, primarily imported from Switzerland, provide excellent light-fastness and resist fading over time. The rugs undergo artisanal dyeing techniques in India, combining international and local resources.
With its rich heritage, meticulous craftsmanship, and innovative design, the Soft Melody circular rug is a true masterpiece to be cherished for years to come.
