Introducing our exquisite Afghani Karaja rug, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and authentic craftsmanship. This transitional piece showcases a stunning silver background, complemented by an elegant aqua border. The design embodies the rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan, specifically originating from the skilled hands of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe.
Each rug is made using only the finest natural materials, with the wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily wool, renowned for its exceptional quality and suitability for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then carefully transported to Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan, where it undergoes meticulous hand carting and spinning, transforming it into luxurious carpet yarn.
The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms within the weavers' homes, fostering a cottage industry type production. The rugs feature an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, with a cotton warp and weft, and a wool pile. To ensure utmost durability, the rugs are double wefted and woven with a heavily packed depressed warp, resulting in a resilient and long-lasting masterpiece.
Embracing centuries-old traditions, these rugs are crafted using exclusively natural dye stuffs, ensuring the preservation of the rug's authentic colors and character. The color palette of this rug is perfectly chosen, with a subtle grey main color that adds depth and elegance to any space.
Our rug measures 6 '2 " X 11'11" in size, perfectly suited for both small and large rooms. With a commendable knot count of 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the weavers' skill and precision. With a calculated total of 836,327 individually hand-tied knots, this Afghan Karaja rug is truly a work of art.
Immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Afghani craftsmanship by bringing this extraordinary rug into your home. Experience the timeless elegance and quality that comes with owning a piece of Afghan rug heritage.
