Introducing our exquisite Pakistani Karaja tribal rug! This stunning rug originates from Pakistan and features a captivating design that showcases the rich cultural heritage of its creators. With a vibrant red background and a contrasting blue border, this rug effortlessly captures attention and adds warmth to any space.
Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made from wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool, which is ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.
Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, these talented weavers create a masterpiece with meticulous attention to detail. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and the use of cotton warp and weft, with a soft and luxurious all-wool pile, contribute to the rug's durability and timeless beauty.
It is worth noting that this rug is a new creation, ensuring its pristine condition for years to come. The size of this extraordinary piece measures 9'8" x 13'1", making it a perfect addition to larger spaces or rooms with high ceilings.
With a knot count of 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the weaver's dedication to creating a work of art that will last for generations. By calculating the KPSI, we estimate that this rug consists of approximately 1,439,339 individually hand-tied knots, highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship poured into its creation.
The colors used in this rug are derived from all-natural dye stuffs, adding to its authenticity and charm. The vibrant blue hue is created from natural indigo dye, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo is one of the oldest known dyes used by humans, with a rich history dating back thousands of years. It has been cherished by various cultures around the world for its ability to produce captivating blue shades.
Adding to the allure of this rug is the stunning red color, which comes from natural madder root dyes. Madder root, sourced from the Rubia tinctorum plant, has long been cultivated for its dyeing properties, resulting in warm and cool shades of red, orange, pink, and brown. Cultures worldwide have admired and utilized madder root dyes for centuries.
Immerse yourself in the captivating beauty of this Pakistani Karaja tribal rug. Its breathtaking design, impeccable craftsmanship, and natural dye sources make it a truly exceptional piece of art that will enhance any living space.
