Introducing the "Soft Melody" collection, this rug originates from India and features a traditional design known as Khotan. The background of the rug is navy, while the border is ivory. Made from wool on cotton, this rug is of new condition and measures 4'11" x 6'11".
Originating in and around the city of Agra, India, the Soft Melody rugs are meticulously handwoven by skilled artisans in their homes, utilizing centuries-old techniques. The quality of these rugs stems from the luxurious blend of materials used, including imported, long-staple New Zealand wool and superior local or South African wool. This unique composition produces a shinier and more lustrous finish compared to rugs made solely from local wools.
The yarn of these rugs incorporates a single thread in each knot, resulting in a denser and substantially heavier yarn. To achieve this texture, an asymmetrical Persian-type knot is used, adding to the rug's distinctive tactile and visual appeal. The Soft Melody rugs are renowned for their 6x6 quality, representing the intricate craftsmanship involved in their creation.
Constructed with a 100% wool pile and cotton foundations, these rugs feature tightly spun cotton warps and are mostly double-wefted. With a pile height of approximately 3/8 inch, the handspun nature of the yarn ensures subtle color variations, enhancing each rug with a unique aesthetic.
The coloration of the Soft Melody rugs is achieved using high-quality chromium dyes. These dyes, primarily imported from Switzerland, ensure resistance to fading and maintain vibrant hues over time. This aspect contributes to the excellent quality and longevity of these rugs.
