Introducing our magnificent rug, originating from Afghanistan, with a stunning design inspired by the Mamluk tradition. This transitional-style rug boasts a rich blue background that captivates the eye, accentuated by a silver border. Made of high-quality wool on a cotton foundation, this new rug exudes both luxury and durability.

Measuring at 9'2" x 11'6", this exquisite piece was crafted by skilled Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe. Drawing upon the luscious wool sourced from the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan – an area renowned for its mountainous terrain and premium wool – our rug embodies the artistry and expertise of its origin.

The weavers carefully hand-cart and hand-spin the raw Ghazni wool in Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan, transforming it into carpet yarn suitable for weaving. Using traditional floor looms within their homes, these talented artisans employ an asymmetrical "Persian" knot style, ensuring the utmost precision and longevity in their creation.

Notably, our timeless rug features a cotton warp and weft, with a woolen pile. The double-wefted technique, combined with the densely packed depressed warp weaving, contributes to its exceptional durability. Centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs are employed to achieve the various shades and hues visible in this extraordinary piece.

Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that our rug showcases a knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 162, totaling an impressive 2,448,400 individually hand-tied knots. This astounding level of craftsmanship attests to the intricacy and devotion poured into its creation.

Highlighted by the striking blue color, achieved through the use of natural indigo dye stuffs, our rug embodies a timeless tradition. Indigo, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant, has been utilized for thousands of years by cultures worldwide to create vibrant blue hues. The deep blue shade in our rug adds a sense of serenity and elegance to any space.

In conclusion, our Afghan Mamluk-inspired rug marries impeccable craftsmanship, rich heritage, and luxurious design. With its transitional style, exceptional quality, and captivating color palette, this rug is sure to become a cherished centerpiece in any home or collection.
